Broad Reach Foundation has a long history of funding progressive public interest nonprofits that improve the quality of life for all residents in Maine. We seek forward-thinking solutions to social and environmental challenges. Often, our work echoes our national or international programming, with Maine serving as a proving ground for innovative strategies and regulatory models.
We work to ensure that humans and natural ecosystems thrive in a changing climate and uncertain future.
The Maine program includes an emphasis on supporting Native American tribes in Maine in ways envisioned and defined by their communities.

Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences
Project support to fill a knowledge gap in the changing zooplankton populations in the GoM ecosystem.
Wabanaki Alliance
Core support for education and outreach concerning Wabanaki sovereignty.
Wabanaki Commission on Land and Stewardship
Core support for the operations of the Commission and a re-granting fund that supports community-based projects focused on the restoration of cultural practices, traditional land stewardship, and the return of ancestral relationships with the land.
Maine Independent News Collaborative (MINC)
Core support to advance specific projects aligned with independent publisher needs and readiness; sharing of journalism generated by fellow MINC members to fill reporting gaps; and experimenting with shared technology to reduce publishing costs and grow revenue.
Maine Equal Justice Partners
Core support to provide advocacy, organizing, and legal services to support the needs of low-income Mainers.
