Grant Guidelines
Broad Reach Foundation has multiple program areas designed to advance our mission to promote healthy ecosystems, coexistence, community resilience and human well-being. Please see the Program pages for more specific descriptions of our program priorities and restrictions, including geographic focus. Most grant applications are by invitation only through our online grant application portal.
We provide the following types of grants:
- General operating support
- Project support
- Program support
Most grants are awarded for a 12-month period. We also provide multi-year support. However, multi-year awards are typically reserved for organizations that the Foundation has funded previously rather than new applicants.
Our funding is focused on 501c3 public charities, fiscally sponsored projects of 501c3 public charities, public entities or municipalities, tribal entities or charitable foreign organizations (through expenditure responsibility grants or grants to organizations with equivalency determination).
We pay grants directly and also recommend grants to be paid through donor advised funds.

Funding Restrictions
We do not typically fund the following types of requests:
- Capital or endowment campaigns
- For-profit commercial ventures or product development
- Scholarships
- Religious activities
- Sponsorship for events primarily focused on fundraising
We cannot fund:
- 501c4 organizations or Political Action Committees (PACs)
- Grants to individuals
- Electioneering, including campaigns for candidates for public office, electoral campaigns or any activities designed to directly support a candidate for public office
- Direct or Grassroots lobbying
